Pre-dispute resolution
Last updated: April 24, 2024
Our Rapid Dispute Resolution (RDR) solution is a pre-dispute tool which can resolve Visa disputes in real-time by accepting liability and refunding the customer when your custom rules are triggered.
Pre-dispute tools provide you with additional control over your dispute strategy and can help to resolve disputes before they count towards your Visa dispute ratio.
To avoid duplicate refunds, do not refund transactions that qualify for RDR until you have verified that the cardholder did not raise a dispute. If you're using a third-party RDR provider, you should set up a process to avoid refunding transactions that RDR has processed.
Information
RDR is offered through Verifi, a Visa company. To enable RDR, contact your Account Manager or [email protected].
Disputes resolved using RDR are not considered a chargeback by Visa. This is ideal for scenarios in which you:
- need to quickly reduce your dispute-to-sales ratio because you are on, or will be placed on, the Visa Dispute Monitoring Program.
- are losing a significant number of disputes and want to automatically resolve disputes that you have a low probability of winning
- do not have the resources to adequately represent disputes and lose a majority of them
There are several key benefits to using the RDR solution:
- automation – RDR rules run automatically, reducing your need to process refunds or represent disputes
- flexibility – rules give you additional control and enable you to take a targeted approach to your dispute strategy
- improved customer satisfaction – improved issue resolution time and transparency for your customers
- ease of integration – if you are already using our acquiring services, no further integration is required
RDR forms part of our pre-dispute offering. RDR occurs before the regular chargeback process starts, enabling you to resolve disputes before they count towards your Visa dispute ratio.
Note
If a chargeback is not accepted as a pre-dispute by your rules, it will become a regular dispute and count towards your dispute ratio.
