Our improved Dashboard experience

Dec 14, 2022

As your partner, we want your payments management tools to offer simple, clear navigation that drives productivity.

Over the last three months, Checkout.com has carried out extensive user research to improve our Dashboard, and we’re delighted to share the results with you.

Watch the below video for a summary of your new Dashboard experience, which we're launching in the coming months:

We’ve painstakingly researched user behaviour to base our new navigation on the way your teams use our Dashboard every day. Here’s how we got here, and where we’re going next:

Step 1: Data analysis

Our journey to a better user experience started with analyzing anonymous data, to track which Dashboard pages users come from and continue to.

An outline of the data analysis carried out by Checkout.com, to identify where users navigate from and to when using the Dashboard

We used this data to understand how users moved between pages, building several prototype Dashboards with different area layouts. Once built, we moved to our next step.

Step 2: Merchant research

Shows the customer research carried out by Checkout.com into our Dashboard improvements - four research phases to test seven prototypes with 57 merchants

We interviewed over 50 merchants – both existing Checkout.com clients and businesses that don’t use us as their provider. After testing each prototype, we refined our areas to ensure the naming and groupings resonated with users. Key findings were:

  • The proposed areas received good feedback
  • Top bar navigation allowed better focus, with clear visibility of each area
  • Users needed a central place for all customized reports

Step 3: Internal research

After conducting our data and user research, we validated our proposal with domain experts across our organization, further refining the naming and layout before launching our final version.

What comes next?

We plan to launch the new navigation before the end of Q1, 2023. Following the launch, one of our top requested features has been a centralized audit trail - letting you view your teams’ activity and actions across the Dashboard.

We look forward to sharing more news on our new User Activity area in an upcoming edition of the Playbook.
