Visa suspends plans to restrict standing instruction MITs

Mar 4, 2025

Visa has indefinitely postponed its plan to restrict standing instruction Merchant Initiated Transactions (MITs) made using digital wallets such as Apple Pay and Google Pay to network token transactions only.

Standing instruction MITs are recurring or intermittent transactions made using details stored from the initial Customer Initiated Transaction.

If you process these transaction types, this is good news, as there won’t be any disruption to your current payment flows.
