Update - Mastercard changes to European clearing times

Mar 25, 2024
Tom Martindell

Mastercard will no longer be going ahead with its planned changes to Final Authorization Submission (clearing) rules in the Europe region*.

These changes were to take effect on May 22, 2024, but are now postponed. You can continue to capture final authorized transactions up to seven calendar days after the authorization date.

However, from 2025, Mastercard will begin to assess time-based authorization validity fees in Europe to incentivize faster capture times. You can find more details in our pricing bulletin.

* Excluding: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
