Mastercard recently announced that they will automatically remove inactive Identity Check (3D Secure) registrations where no 3D Secure activity has taken place for 13 or more months to improve performance of their registration system.
If you’re regularly making 3D Secure authentication requests to our API, this won’t affect you. However, there are two scenarios where this may have an impact.
If you have 3D Secure disabled for a prolonged period in a region where local regulations don’t require it for Strong Customer Authentication, and choose to enable it again for security reasons, you may see Mastercard 3DS requests fail.
If you think you may want to enable 3DS in the future, you should send at least one 3DS request every six months to keep your registration active.
If you have a dormant entity with Checkout.com that has not processed for over 13 months and want to re-activate it or use it for the first time, you’ll need to re-register with Mastercard to use 3DS.
Speak to your Account Manager or raise a request with our Support team before activation to ensure that you can process Mastercard 3DS payments without disruption.
