Changing how we calculate the Visa Fixed Acquirer Network Fee

Changing how we calculate the Visa Fixed Acquirer Network Fee

Mar 4, 2025
Tom Martindell

We’re updating how we calculate the Visa Fixed Acquirer Network Fee in the United States from March 1, 2025.

We’re committed to showing you clear costs, and by making this change, you’ll be able to more accurately predict your fees.

What is the Visa Fixed Acquirer Network Fee?

Visa charges the Fixed Acquirer Network Fee quarterly based on each merchant’s processing volume:

Currently, we charge a transaction-based fee and make an adjustment at the start of the following quarter for the actual amount Visa charges us. This can cause large credits or debits when we make the adjustment and your monthly processing volume is close to a tier limit.

What we’re doing to resolve this issue

From March 1, we’ll remove the transaction-based fee, and accurately reflect what Visa charges us.
For example, if you process between $2,000,000–$3,999,999.99 for March and April, and then $4,000,000–$7,999,999.99 in May, you’ll see a $1,000 fee in March and April, and then a $2,000 fee in May.

For January and February, we’ll continue to use the current process, with an adjustment at the beginning of March.

Thanks for your understanding. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
