Token migration guide

Last updated: January 25, 2023

Read this page to find out how to migrate from your current service provider to Checkout.com.

To get further support, reach out to your Customer Success Manager or support@checkout.com.

Information

The migration process will take a minimum of 14 business days to complete.

How it works

Step 1: You request a migration

To start the process, you need to request a token migration from your current service provider. There'll be a lot of sensitive data to transfer, so put us in touch with them and we can securely arrange the data move for you.

If Checkout.com hosts the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP), then our integration team will:

  • forward the necessary files to you
  • provide instructions on how to understand and use the files

If Checkout.com does not host the SFTP, then you will need to give us your public SSH-RSA Key in OpenSSH format.

Step 2: We retrieve your data

We will provide your current service provider with the minimum required fields for a successful migration. A secure SFTP channel will then be created, between us and your service provider, and either:

a. we will grant access for the service provider to transfer the data, or b. the service provider will grant us access to the file

In both scenarios, your service provider will use the Checkout.com public key to encrypt the files.

Tip

You can download our public key from the following URL:

https://cdn.checkout.com/keys/cko-pub-key-4096.txt

Step 3: We import your data

Once we have the file, our team will decrypt it and import it into your merchant account.

Before the token migration

The following fields should be provided by the third-party payment service provider (PSP):

  • Customer email or other unique identifier
  • Card number
  • Card expiry month
  • Card expiry year
  • PSP card token
  • Scheme Transaction ID, when available

Information

The Scheme Transaction ID is required to continue to process subscriptions (merchant-initiated transactions).

Optionally, you can request the following additional fields:

  • Customer billing details
  • AddressLine1
  • AddressLine2
  • AddressPostal
  • AddressCountry
  • AddressCity
  • AddressState
  • Customer name
  • PSP customer ID

After the token migration

Once migration is completed, a .csv file is generated and sent to you. It contains the following fields:

  • Customer email, or other unique identifier
  • Checkout.com source ID (reusable card token)
  • Checkout.com customer ID
  • Previous payment provider card token (as a mapping reference)
  • Card last 4 digits
