The £1000 award for the next generation of entrepreneurs
Checkout.com is pleased to announce the commencement of an annual scholarship for entrepreneurs studying in the UK with an award of £1,000 to fund their startup. The team at Checkout.com, headquartered in the UK, understands how critical startups and entrepreneurs are to the growth of the economy. At our heart, we are a technology company built and managed by passionate entrepreneurs. It is never too early to consider starting a business and we believe in paying it forward, which is why we are providing this scholarship fund to support new entrepreneurs.
Annually, before the commencement of the Autumn academic term, Checkout.com will select and award one recipient with a £1,000 scholarship.
Who is eligible
The scholarship is open to all students pursuing higher education as undergraduates, postgraduates or doctoral candidates who attend university in the UK during the 2016 – 2017 academic year. Applicants may be UK citizens or foreign nationals.
How to enter
Any student who meets the eligibility requirements listed above can apply for the Checkout.com scholarship. To enter, students must submit a covering letter with their contact information and a 500-800 word essay including the following:
- Why are you interested in entrepreneurship?
- What idea do you have for a business? If you have already started a business, tell us about your business.
- How do you intend to use the scholarship funds?
For submission, simply email your essay as an attachment in PDF or Word format, including your full name, educational institution you will be attending and contact information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
The essay submission deadline is midnight GMT on 15 July 2016. Essays will then be reviewed by the Checkout.com Scholarship Committee and the winner will be selected and announced on the Checkout.com website by 15 August 2016. The winner will also be notified via email by this date. The Checkout.com Scholarship Committee will review all essays received and one winner will be chosen for the 2016 – 2017 academic year. Once the winner has been determined, they will be announced on the Checkout.com website. The Checkout.com Scholarship Committee will also notify the winner via email.
The scholarship funds awarded are to be used for expenses related to a new or existing business or for university tuition, fees, or books. The winner will be awarded the funds within 6 weeks of notification. The scholarship is non-renewable and is good for one academic year only. Recipients are only eligible to receive the scholarship once during their lifetime. Any questions on the scholarship essay contest can be directed to email@example.com.
