# Stored payment instrument

Accept a payment using an existing payment instrument, without asking your customer for their card or bank account details again.

A payment instrument stores your customer's card or bank account details so you can reuse them in future payments or payouts. You can create a payment instrument using the Payments API or the Instruments API.
