# AI tooling for developers We provide three ways for large language models (LLMs) and AI agents to work with our documentation: - Checkout.com MCP Server – Connects your integrated development environment (IDE) to our knowledge base and payment operations tools. - `llms.txt` – Indexes every article page on this site for tools that pull context from a URL. - Markdown pages – Provide almost any page on this site as plain text, ready to paste into a prompt. --- ## Checkout.com MCP Server The Checkout.com Model Context Protocol (MCP) Server gives your AI agent direct access to the content on this site, our API reference, and our support site. It also provides tools to query the status of a payment and list the entities in your account. The MCP server works with any IDE or AI tool that supports remote MCP servers, including Claude Code, Cursor, and VS Code with GitHub Copilot. You sign in with the credentials you use for the Dashboard. To connect the MCP server and see the full list of tools it provides, see [Checkout.com MCP Server](https://www.checkout.com/docs/developer-resources/ai-tooling-for-developers/checkout-com-mcp-server.md). --- ## llms.txt index Checkout.com publishes an index of this documentation at `https://www.checkout.com/docs/llms.txt`, following the [llms.txt](https://llmstxt.org) convention. The file lists every article page with its description. We group pages by topic, not by the site's navigation, so related pages appear together even when they're in different sections. Nesting shows the parent and child pages, and each link points to the page's Markdown version. We generate the index when it's requested, so it always reflects what's currently published on the site. New and updated pages appear in it when we publish them. To use the index, point your AI tool at the URL, or include it in a prompt. For example: ``` Read https://www.checkout.com/docs/llms.txt and list the pages that cover 3D Secure. ``` Your agent then fetches the current version of any page it needs. --- ## Markdown pages You can read any article page on this site as Markdown. Your AI tool then gets the page's content without the site's navigation, scripts, and styling. This uses fewer tokens, and reduces the risk of your tool misreading the page. To view a page as Markdown, add `.md` to the end of its URL. For example: ``` https://www.checkout.com/docs/developer-resources/testing/test-cards.md ``` Each page also has two buttons below its title: - _View as Markdown_ – Opens the Markdown version of the page in a new tab. - _Copy as Markdown_ – Copies the Markdown version of the page to your clipboard, so you can paste it straight into a prompt. If a page's Markdown version contains links to other pages on this site, those links also point to their Markdown versions. Your agent can follow a reference without switching formats. The conversion preserves code samples, tables, and tabbed content. > **Information** > > [Get started](https://www.checkout.com/docs/get-started) and a small number of other pages are only available as web pages. --- ## Related topics - [Checkout.com MCP Server](https://www.checkout.com/docs/developer-resources/ai-tooling-for-developers/checkout-com-mcp-server.md): Use the Checkout.com MCP Server to search through our knowledge base and investigate payment operations directly from your AI-assisted development environment.
